Welcome! Excited to launch this new site as I push my Peach Seed Monkey novel manuscript into its query process. Thanks to all who followed from Peach Seed Monkey blog where we’ve enjoyed seven years of sharing and discovery.
I am now six months into one-year as an Affiliate Artist at Headlands Center for the Arts’ picturesque campus above San Francisco’s Golden Gate. So lucky to be a part of such a stellar group of folk: staff & artists from the Bay Area and the world, combine with nature and a-mazing meals to make an awe-inspiring experience. Let’s jump back into the archives to July 2018, my first Headlands Open House:
Keep going to see the gallery of photos from my studio installation based on themes and objects from the novel. In this case, Easter Sunday dinner table at Florida’s house. My goal was to create a small slice of southwest Georgia, complete with cricket sounds and Spanish moss.
Open house guests were intrigued by being able to walk into a physical space representing the manuscript’s one dimensional world. I was equally intrigued and given fresh insight into character: shopping for curtains Florida would hang at her window, playing in mud to distress three-year-old Cricket’s blanky, which is draped over her chair at the table.
