Family Charity

Founded in 2002 by Anita and her husband, Robert Roehrick, Gaines-Jones Scholars, formerly The Gaines-Jones Education Foundation, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Novato, California; a public charity 100% volunteer-run with Anita as Executive Director and Rob as Trustee along with a bi-coastal Board of Directors and Advisory. Our main mission is awarding need-based college scholarships to African-Americans in Southwest Georgia and the San Francisco Bay Area. We also advocate for and mentor our Gaines-Jones Scholars and other high-school students through mentorship programs such as Gaines-Jones Right-to-Write, one-on-one college/career essay writing workshops.
